Investment prospects in Europe provide new opportunities for the automotive manufacturing industry PDF Print E-mail

North American investment advisory project and silver sponsor of the AMS Global Conference 2007, Euratlantic, will contribute to the debate concerning the future of car manufacturing in Europe on the 2-3 October in Dearborn, Michigan. Specialists, Hugues Naudet, chargé d' affaires for Invest in Western France and Jean-Claude Germain, Director of Industrial Relations Affairs of PSA Peugeot Citroen and Chairman of Premium Cars Competitiveness Cluster (Western France regions) will explain the role that French, Portuguese and Spanish regions could play in the automotive manufacturing sector.

Euratlantic is a joint project for the promotion of thirteen French, Portuguese and Spanish regions among North American investors with a focus on the automotive sector. Euratlantic is financed by the European Union and the regions within the framework of the Interreg IIIB Atlantic Area program.

Schneider Electric expands the Modicon line of programmable controllers with the addition of Modicon® M340™ PDF Print E-mail

PALATINE, Ill. — June 1, 2007 — Schneider Electric today announced the release of the Telemecanique® brand Modicon® M340™ programmable automation controller (PAC), the newest addition to the Modicon line of PACs.The Modicon line began in 1968 with the introduction of the first ever programmable logic controller (PLC), capable of real-time logic solving. It continues today with the Modicon M340 PAC, a platform that not only offers real-time logic solving, but also communication, motion, and database and manipulation capabilities in multiple programming environments. The Modicon M340 PAC joins the Modicon Premium™ and the Modicon Quantum™, Schneider Electric’s other PACs programmed with Unity™ Pro, the latest IEC 61131-3 development software. These PAC’s comprise a full range of programmable controllers designed to affordably and effectively handle the requirements of very simple machine tasks to the most complex machine solutions.

Automotive Manufacturing Solutions Global Conference 2007 addresses the challenges of hybrid vehicle manufacturers PDF Print E-mail

Automotive manufacturing experts from the world’s most successful suppliers and carmakers will meet in Dearborn, Michigan, for the Automotive Manufacturing Solutions Global Conference 2007. Taking place from the 2-3rd October at the Ritz-Carlton Hotel, the conference will cover major issues in the manufacturing sector including new technical developments in carmaking and solutions to new challenges such as hybrid and fuel cell vehicles.

 

“Attention is usually focused on vehicle technologies, but manufacturing expertise can make an equally important contribution to challenges such as cost and weight reduction and improvements in quality and customer service,” says Lee J. Pryor, vp global automotive business for Schneider Electric. “Manufacturing specialists have their own challenges such as how to deliver new technologies, reliably and at affordable prices. This conference is a great way of exploring these issues with some of the world’s leading specialists.”  
Hosted by a speaking panel of more than twenty influential automotive manufacture specialists, the conference sessions will provide a knowledge-sharing forum for exploring the latest manufacturing issues. Sessions will cover the manufacture of electric sports cars, the drive for improvements in fuel economy and crashability, the implications of alternative fuel systems on manufacturing and the latest technical developments in quality measurement processes.
Supplementing the conference sessions will be two case studies from leading carmakers General Motors and Chrysler. General Motors will discuss its new global manufacturing and flexibility strategy alongside its new architectures and processes for tool and die engineering. Chrysler will present a talk on supplier integration covering collaboration in modules of components and production cells.
