Automotive manufacturing experts from the world’s most successful suppliers and carmakers will meet in Dearborn, Michigan, for the Automotive Manufacturing Solutions Global Conference 2007. Taking place from the 2-3rd October at the Ritz-Carlton Hotel, the conference will cover major issues in the manufacturing sector including new technical developments in carmaking and solutions to new challenges such as hybrid and fuel cell vehicles.

“Attention is usually focused on vehicle technologies, but manufacturing expertise can make an equally important contribution to challenges such as cost and weight reduction and improvements in quality and customer service,” says Lee J. Pryor, vp global automotive business for Schneider Electric. “Manufacturing specialists have their own challenges such as how to deliver new technologies, reliably and at affordable prices. This conference is a great way of exploring these issues with some of the world’s leading specialists.”
Hosted by a speaking panel of more than twenty influential automotive manufacture specialists, the conference sessions will provide a knowledge-sharing forum for exploring the latest manufacturing issues. Sessions will cover the manufacture of electric sports cars, the drive for improvements in fuel economy and crashability, the implications of alternative fuel systems on manufacturing and the latest technical developments in quality measurement processes.
Supplementing the conference sessions will be two case studies from leading carmakers General Motors and Chrysler. General Motors will discuss its new global manufacturing and flexibility strategy alongside its new architectures and processes for tool and die engineering. Chrysler will present a talk on supplier integration covering collaboration in modules of components and production cells.
“In addition to the focus on technical content, the event will present an ideal opportunity for more than 150 suppliers and specialists to network and discuss future business strategy and stimulate successful partnerships,” explains Andrew Fallon, publisher for Automotive Manufacturing Solutions magazine.
Key speakers will include Mark Stevens, executive director for die engineering, General Motors, Mary Barra, executive director for vehicle manufacturing engineering, General Motors, Bruce D. Coventry, president, global engine manufacturing alliance, Chrysler Group, John Kalson, director of production, Hyundai Motor Manufacturing Alabama, Cindy Sidoti, plant manager for Toledo supplier part assembly, Chrysler Group.
The conference is supported by the Society of Manufacturing Engineers. The Gold sponsor is Schneider Electric and Silver sponsors are Sunderland City Council, Euratlantic, Hexagon Metrology and Tornos.
